Four facts every GSP owner in South Africa should know about the breed's official registry. Each one is sourced directly from KUSA — not summarised from a breeder forum or Facebook group.

Who Registers a GSP

The Kennel Union of Southern Africa (KUSA) is South Africa's official registry for pedigreed dogs — it's the body a GSP is registered, shown and campaigned under in South African dogsport.

Breed Group

The GSP is registered under KUSA's Gundog Group, alongside South Africa's other pointing, setting and retrieving breeds.

Litter & Puppy Registration

Registration is handled through KUSA's Members Portal (k9online.co.za), with the relevant forms published under Forms & Documents on the KUSA site.

Hip & Elbow Screening

KUSA runs a joint hip and elbow dysplasia screening scheme with the South African Veterinary Association — the SAVA/KUSA HD & ED Scheme — South Africa's equivalent to international hip/elbow scoring systems.
